LGBTQ-affirming multilingual community that centers abolition and decolonial practices.
This is not language learning for language learning's sake. We practice Spanish to build relationships, deepen solidarity across the African Diaspora and beyond, and to grow our capacity to communicate, coordinate, and build power.
This is culture, community, and freedom-centered fluency.
You do not have to be "good at Spanish" to join.
Beginners are welcome. And, if you already speak Spanish, you can join to expand your vocabulary and confidence, practice advanced conversation topics, build community, and support others.

Jamii Linguists is a purpose-driven Pan-African organization that helps world changers build community (and networks) in many languages. Our multilingual communications team of language and movement workers is pro-Black (open to all races), LGBTQ-affirming, and rooted in abolitionist (anti-carceral & freedom-driven), solidarity economics (anti-capitalist), and de-colonial community ethics. This membership community is our growing home and a core way we weave multilingual movement networks that build our individual and collective power to get free together.

Is this for specific levels? Is it beginner friendly?
ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOMED! You can be a beginner, intermediate, or even a more advanced learner.
Guidelines for participants in the community space?
- PARTICIPATE! Don't make this like that gym membership where the gym ain't seen you in a month of Sundays.
- Honor the community values! We are pro-Black, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and fiercely abolitionist. Together, we are decolonizing our minds as a community of practice and engaging in solidarity economics - not capitalism.
What if life starts life-ing and I fall behind on my practice?
Don’t worry—we anticipate this. In addition to coaching support, recordings are available to help you go at your pace. Weekly conversation practice keeps you on track, and our group chat lets you reach your language coach anytime for guidance. We’ll point you to exactly what you need to cover to catch up.
Our learning cycles are designed with built-in breaks and time to review, so you never feel overloaded. Language learning is a marathon, not a sprint, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Is this like traditional classes?
No — it’s even better! You will have access to classes, but that is not the exclusive focus. We focus on conversation practice, listening comprehension, coaching, and community with native speakers.
There are optional group class activities on topics that naturally come up during conversation practice. In your first 1–2 weeks, simply:
Participate in the group chat
Complete the daily listening comprehension exercises sent to you
Join live Zoom conversation and coaching sessions
We also provide a curated list of tutorials under 15 minutes so you can learn efficiently. You get all the guidance of classes, but with a focus on what really drives progress — listening and speaking practice.
If you want personalized classes, you also have the option to schedule 1-on-1 classes (additional fee applies).
What if I want to cancel?
Yes! To see real progress, we recommend completing one 12-week cycle with our community — plan to be with us for about 3 months. After that one 12-week cycle (i.e., 3 monthly payments), you can cancel anytime, with no hidden fees.
And keep in mind — you’re getting an exceptionally discounted price! Our 3-month language intensive used to cost 3x this amount, and with your membership, you get all that content and more.

All Multilingual Movement Membership community spaces are built through the labor and love of the Language & Diaspora by Jamii Linguists team. In this work, we are guided by our UJAMAA Solidarity Economy framework and intentional practices of solidarity economics. Money is needed to sustain our work, AND growing community comes first.
We evaluate proposed Resonance Exchanges with three questions:
Will this exchange help grow and nourish our community of liberation and language lovers, individually and collectively?
Does this exchange show a genuine commitment to reaching fluency in: English, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, or Spanish?
Does this exchange honor our team’s labor, time, and energy and strengthen our capacity to co-create this community?
Through time, effort, or money, everyone contributes to co-creating our shared multilingual spaces and bringing a shared vision to life. Active, authentic participation in language learning helps us build a liberation-lovin’ multilingual community — a commitment that strengthens the individual, the collective, and weaves a multilingual network of support for our movements.
